Danielle Kohut is a first-generation American architect, born in California and raised by a motherhood of mountains. She constructs situations that question the divide between human and natural processes, proposing instead a continuity between organic and industrial life.

Currently, she [me] is pursuing dual paths of artistry and academia in relating domestic architecture plan and program to a culture’s embodied understanding of the membrane between man and nature. Danielle hopes to pursue further opportunities in ethnographic studies of the far North.

MATERIAL [TEASER]

1. In The Garage
digital photography
craft paper, tape, creature
2025

This still life seeks to represent an in-home documentation area. Dan Koh is interested in the aesthetics of vacancy and purity applied to domestic spaces as a performance of feminine perfection. For the first time ever in the history of our species, signs of wealth and power are broadcasted not by opulence, but by austerity.

2. I Love the LA River
digital drawing
print on paper
2024

Powers have employed the triptych to communicate binary fables to unlearned masses. Good and evil, heaven and hell, future and past, have shouldered mediocre, dismal, and present depictions of humankind. The artist applies these fabrications to cultural misunderstandings of the arroyo before, during, and after Los Angeles.

3. Mabel’s House
sculpture
upcycled hot rolled steel, nuts, bolts
2025

The home as a protective enclosure. An external tectonic for extreme internal hollowness provides purity.

4. Performance Column
engineering experiment
hempcrete, resin, stone
2024

This piece plays with scale and transparency to visualize key materials of structural concrete and steel. 6 blocks, 6’ tall [3 blocks pictured].

5. Sentimental Shelters
living creation
dead things, alive things
2025

The artist investigates life after death. And a post-climate future in which recycled shelters populate an aquaterrestria of no boundaries.
